Higueruela 2004
Almansa, Castilla-La Mancha, SpainRobert Parker thinks the Higueruela comes across like a fine French Châteauneuf du Pape, I'm not sure I can go that far but at about a fifth of the price it should make Rhone producers edgy. In fact it's a fruit driven red with a slightly sour cran-cherry nose and a spicy licorice black fruit finish. Floral and mineral notes support the body and cry out for food - lamb kabobs or stew would work. Simple workhorse red at a very fair price.Tasted: 15 November 2006Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:AB | $12.95 | 750ml |
