Gratavinum 2πR 2004

Priorato, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainGratavinum is the Priorat project of the Cusiné family of Pares Baltà fame. Two wines have been produced, 2 Pi r and GV5. The idea behind 2 Pi r is to create a soft, early-drinking version of the traditional power house Priorat red. If you recall 2 Pi r is the formula to calculate the circumference of a circle and the wine is supposed to reflect that perfect roundness. The blend is 35/34/21/10 cariñena/garnacha/ cabernet sauvignon/merlot. This intense, fruity, red with big black jammy fruit notes offers freshness and mineral flecks throughout with fine weight and slippery tannins. Surprisingly elegant not unlike the pure mathematical equation it's name after.Tasted: 11 October 2006Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
