Castiglion del Bosco Brunello di Montalcino 2001

Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyBig meaty, waxy, spicy, peppery, black cherry jam, floral, vanilla nose with tobacco, licorice and barnyard in the background. Rich, ripe, full and dry with supple tannins. Lots of black cherry, smoky, rootsy, meaty, orange, vanilla, bitter chocolate, tobacco and mineral flavours. Young tannins but ripe with good acidity balance and a slightly chewy finish. Needs 3-5 years to reach its optimum - from a great vintage too.Tasted: 21 August 2006Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
