Miguel Torres Manso de Velasco 2003

Valle del Curicó, Region del Valle Central, ChileManso de Velasco, a single vineyard cabernet sauvignon takes its name from the Spanish governor who founded the city of Curicó in 1743.The 2003 is a blockbuster version of this label and perhaps one of the biggest cabernets of the year in all of Chile. Still big and chunky it remains youthful and firm with ripe plummy dark fruit flavours streaked with cedar, bay leaf and smoky elements. Soft but firm tannins mark its long finish. It will require a full decade of bottle ageing to really come in to its own. A very fine effort.Tasted: 08 June 2006Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
