Torres Nerola Xarel.lo 2004
Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainNerola is a new wine produced by the next generation of Torres winemakers namely, Mireia Torres Maczassek, the daughter of Miguel Torres. Mireia says, "In ancient mythology, Nerola was a Mediterranean garden whose natural conditions were so exceptional that the wine produced from its vines was said to bestow immortality." The blend is mostly Xarel.lo with some Garnacha Blanca and immortality aside this is a terrific wine. The style is aromatic with hints of spice, butter, vanilla, peach and anise on the nose. On the palate it is fruity mixing citrus flavours, white flowers, butter, vanilla and orange rind. There is just enough oak to fill out the mid-palate and add to a creamy smooth youthful finish.
