Craggy Range Syrah Le Sol 2002

Gimblett Gravels, Hawkes Bay, North Island, New ZealandBig black pepper, tarry, garrigue, bitter chocolate, licorice nose with some plum jam and smoky vanilla. Dry, round, warm, full bodied palate with light, astringent tannins. Intense mocha, peppery, sweet plum jam flavours with vanilla, roasted pepper and some minty cola, tobacco leaf on the finish. Good elegance with a touch of acidity and hotness on the finish. Needs 2-3 years to soften the somewhat dry tannins.Tasted: 15 February 2006Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
