Torbreck Woodcutters Shiraz 2003

Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaWoodcutters commemorates winemaker David Powell's lumberjack days in the Scottish Highland. The wine has peppery, savoury, licorice root nose with smoky, black cherry and plum jam flavours flecked with sausage. Round, supple and warm on the palate with a touch of roasted pepper and tobacco on the finish. Normally flavours you would associate with cooler syrah characters. Well balanced and well expressed. It is fermented and aged for 12 months in large format seasoned barrels and foudres to further add to its inviting appeal.Tasted: 21 November 2005Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
