Katnook Estate Coonawarra Prodigy Shiraz 2002

Coonawarra, South Australia, AustraliaFabulous spicy, rootsy, minty, licorice nose with coffee, anise, black cherry jam and floral notes with a gamey, vanilla, pepper streak underneath. Rich, ripe and supple with great concentration and very ripe tannins. Huge coffee, vanilla, sweet blackberry jam, plum compote, spicy, licorice, meaty, mulberry flavours. Massive flavour intensity but with finesse and balance and silky tannins. Long jammy cigar and chocolate finish. Not for the faint of heart but enjoy. It spends 30 months in new French and American oak and should keep another five to 15 years in bottle. Well done.Tasted: 14 November 2005Tasted by: Stuart TobePrices:
