Artadi Grandes Añadas Rioja 2001
Rioja Alavesa, Rioja, SpainA perfect vintage. Fabulous nose of waxy, floral, black cherry jam, vanilla and black olive scents with smoky, garrigue undercurrents. Dry, rich, moderately tannic palate with good acidity but tight. Lovely weighty spicy, peppery, black cherry flavours with streaks of mocha, chocolate, garrigue, tobacco and creamy, licorice finish. Far too tight and young now but it will improve with time in the bottle. Impressive Rioja with great fruit. It was very good US $125.00 wine before Robert Parker mused that the 2000 may be the single greatest wine made in the appellation.Tasted: 14 November 2005Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $330.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Liquid Art Fine Wines |
