Penfolds Bin 60A 1962

South Australia, AustraliaAnother lovely old bottle in stellar condition (Re-tasted for the fourth tine in October 2005). Considered by many to be one of the greatest Australian wines ever made and while increasingly rare, the bottles I've been lucky enough to taste are still holding up well. Amber cherry brick orange colour. Fully open nose of sweet cherries, tobacco, truffle and leather. Super round and supple on the palate still with balance before it begins to dry out. The finish is persistent offering feint hints of cherry mixed with truffle, cedar, soya and tobacco. A fabulous wine that has gone the distance. Could this eventually be surpassed by the 1990 Bin 90A and the newly minted 2004 Bin60A? Only decades will tell.Tasted: 22 October 2005Tasted by: Prices:
