Russian River, Sonoma County, California, United StatesDon Hartford describes the spicy character of Highwire as "pyrotechnic." The vineyard trellising is now 50/50 high wire versus head prune and the lots are picked and vinified separately prior to any final blend selection. The wine is big chunky chewy zinfandel swimming in white pepper black fruit and gobs of sweet oak. At 16.1 percent alcohol, it is not for the shy or timid.
