Quails' Gate Merlot Family Reserve 2003

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaSuper ripe port-like aromas with cloves, pepper, and licorice and black cherry notes - very warm. Dry, tight, somewhat lean tannic entry and very alcoholic on the palate. Big mocha, vanilla, spicy oak and peppery, black cherry, cedar flavours. Long oaky, dry, hot finish with some acidity showing. Not up to past standards and frankly a disappointment for the price. Slated for release in the Fall of 2005.Tasted: 15 July 2005Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
