Yalumba The Octavius Edition XI 2000

Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaThe millennium edition of Octavius looks as if it will be one to drink sooner, rather than later. Another challenging growing season albeit in an even year, 2000 ended with significant March rains. Its lifted savoury ripe fruit aromas are spiked with pepper, cloves and mocha. The flavours border on the resiny, licorice, cedar side with hints of raw black fruit. There is 10 per cent new French oak here (60 American) and it spent 18 months in barrel. You could drink it now or over the next five years. Tasted: 03 May 2005Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
