Yalumba The Octavius Edition X 1999
Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaAlmost a perfect year '99 was hampered by late season rains that made the harvest challenging. There is plenty of youthful exuberance here with the customary dark fruit cloves and cardamom on what is a tightly strung aromatic lifted nose. Chocolate covered berries preview some super vibrant fruit flavours. It is showing well even at such an early age and should continue to improve for a decade. The fruit sourcing (all shiraz) is 58/42 Barossa/Eden aged in 70 per cent new American oak.
