Yalumba The Octavius Edition VIII 1997
Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaThe odd year vintage curse strikes again with '97. Little winter rain and above average summer temperatures challenged the vines of this 70/30 Barossa/Eden mix. Only 65 per cent new American oak went into this 100 per cent shiraz offering. Anise and pepper mark the nose while the flavour spectrum is pepper, licorice, tar, mint and vanilla. Not as polished as the good years but still intense and smooth; it should settled down into a fine old red over the next three years.Tasted: 05 May 2005Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $90.95 | 750ml | Speculative - Mark Anthony Brands |
