Yalumba The Octavius Edition IV 1993

Eden Valley, South Australia, Australia A slight style change here with more Eden Valley fruit (70 per cent) versus 30 per cent Barossa in the blend and only 5 per cent cabernet. The nose is mature with plenty of vanilla, plums, licorice and prominent sweet oak - there was 75 per cent new American oak in the blend. Dense on the palate and still some gritty tannins on the finish. It's beginning to dry out showing some leanness on the mid-palate but still overall in good shape with some attractive chocolate notes in the finish.Tasted: 03 May 2005Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
