Origin Napa Sauvignon Blanc 2003
Napa Valley, California, United StatesAccording one of Napa's best writers Paul Franson "Origin-Napa wines is one of Napa Valley's newest wineries, but it has deep roots here. The wines come from Bill Davies, son of Schramsberg founders Jamie and the late Jack Davies, and Tom Gamble, scion of a family that's lived in the valley since the early part of the last century. Gamble Vineyards sauvignon is a blend of 63 musqué de Loire clone and 37 per cent Preston. It's quite a citrus bomb on the nose with big lemon and mineral highlights. It has wonderful personality and while it is 100 per cent barrel fermented only 15 per cent of the wood is new and the wine remains fresh. Bright figgy floral fruit jumps from the glass.Tasted: 18 January 2005Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:US | $27.00 | 750ml |
