Matanzas Creek Sauvignon Blanc 2002

Sonoma County, California, United StatesThe 02 sauvignon blend has a touch of sémillon and sauvignon musqué. There's a fair bit of lees in the mix (and 15 per cent barrel fermentation) that gives it a creamy texture and tends to knock the fruit back. The upside is a complex wine that revels in its Russian River, Knights Valley, Alexander Valley, Sonoma Valley and Mendocino Valley fruit. Look for a bright floral character on the nose, citrus and fig flavours and a touch of vanilla in the aftertaste.Tasted: 18 January 2005Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
