Dominio de Atauta 2001
Ribera del Duero, Castilla-Leon, SpainLocated at the eastern edge of the Ribera del Duero appellation, the town of Atauta is situated above a remote canyon planted with ancient, un-grafted, pre-phylloxera tempranillo vines up to 120 years old. Look for peppery, black cherry jam, plum licorice and gamey, smoky vanilla aromas with some orange rind and leafy tobacco in the background. It's moderately rich, round, soft and supple with grainy, dry tannins and very ripe black cherry, coffee, plum and spicy vanilla flavours. A bit young with tannins to shed over the next few years. Grown according to biodynamic principles using no chemicals or fertilizers.Tasted: 06 January 2005Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $57.95 | 750ml |
