Stonestreet Upper Barn Sauvignon Blanc Alexander Mountain Estate 2000
Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesThe Upper Barn vineyard rises to 1,800' above sea level. With its shallow gravel soils and cool climate, the seven-acre vineyard tends to produce low yields of mineral streaked sauvignon blanc. The wine is barrel fermented but remains fairly crisp with plenty of citrus rind and lemon/grapefruit flavours. It's good but needs drinking. Less oak could really extend the life of this wine and freshen up the finish.Prices:US | $15.00 | 750ml |

Courtney Benham Sauvignon Blanc 2002
Napa Valley, California, United StatesCourtney Benham, proprietor of Martin Ray Winery says the 'Courtney Benham' describes these wines as: a prestigious well-known winery decides to sell excess inventory, we buy it in barrel, and bottle it under my name". Each wine has a total production of less than 1,000 cases priced at about half of their normal retail price. The Stag's Leap District, Edna Valley, and Napa Valley are just a few of the appellations offering a wide array of varietals. We really liked the Napa sauvignon with its Graves-like nose and ripe Napa fruit style. Matanzas Creek Sauvignon Blanc 2002
Sonoma County, California, United StatesThe 02 sauvignon blend has a touch of sémillon and sauvignon musqué. There's a fair bit of lees in the mix (and 15 per cent barrel fermentation) that gives it a creamy texture and tends to knock the fruit back. The upside is a complex wine that revels in its Russian River, Knights Valley, Alexander Valley, Sonoma Valley and Mendocino Valley fruit. Origin Napa Sauvignon Blanc 2003
Napa Valley, California, United StatesAccording one of Napa's best writers Paul Franson "Origin-Napa wines is one of Napa Valley's newest wineries, but it has deep roots here. The wines come from Bill Davies, son of Schramsberg founders Jamie and the late Jack Davies, and Tom Gamble, scion of a family that's lived in the valley since the early part of the last century. Gamble Vineyards sauvignon is a blend of 63 musqué de Loire clone and 37 per cent Preston. It's quite a citrus bomb on the nose with big lemon and mineral highlights. It has wonderful personality and while it is 100 per cent barrel fermented only 15 per cent of the wood is new and the wine remains fresh.
