Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesThe fruit for the Rodney Strong Alexander Valley Merlot has been coming off Cake Ranch in Geyserville since the early 1970s. The textures are Alexander Valley-like (soft and rich) but they get a structural boost from the cooler, high-altitude (1000') fruit added from Alden Vineyard. Look for a deep colour and an enticing mix of vanilla spicy, sandalwood fruitcake and coffee/vanilla notes.
