Cremaschi Furlotti Carmenère Reserve 2002

Valle del Maule, Region del Valle Central, ChileThe recent emergence of Chilean carmenère due primarily to better ampelography has given the South American country anew varietal to hang its hat on. Look for an aromatic smoky, spicy, minty nose streaked with pepper, tobacco, cardamom and vanilla with sappy cassis notes underneath. Rich, fat, and warm with lots of ripe, grainy tannins this is intense stuff. More minty, cassis and smoky vanilla, peppery, tobacco leaf, licorice and crushed herbs round out the flavours. Round with good balance and ripe but definitely a carmenère.Tasted: 06 December 2004Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
