Napa Valley, California, United StatesThe 2002 Stonehedge merlot uses about 15 per cent of carignane, petite sirah and cabernet sauvignon to create a drier, spicier, earthy version of this much maligned California varietal. We like the black fruit core but the earthy notes and minimal oak open up even more food possibilities. Ready to drink but will hold a couple of years.
