Sicily, ItalyThis IGT Chardonnay (Indicazione Geografica Tipica Sicilia) was first produced in 1994 and production now tops 130,000 bottles. The fermentation is carried out in French oak barrels where the wine is kept on its yeast lees for 10 months. The colour is medium yellow. Guava, honey, spicy lees, crème brûlée, citrus nose. Rich, round, warm and fat but good acidity. Big baked apple, honey, vanilla, lemon oil, nutty lees flint flavours. Pretty high toned butterscotch and citrus aftertaste but good richness and balance.
