Austin Hope Roussanne 2002
Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo County, Central Coast, California, United StatesMore yellow than straw in colour with an intense honey, cream, marmalade nose streaked with anise and mineral. Rich, round, dry and warm yet suave and oily with a touch of sweetness. Huge honey, marmalade, slate and nectarine skin flavours with an oily, spicy lees vanilla finish. Intense, fat style but with fine acidity. The grapes come off the well-known Mer Soleil vineyard located in the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation. The vines are an old clone that can be traced directly to France. The yields are very low and the grapes are picked late, usually mid to late November. Drink while young and fresh but not for everybody - a Parker style wine in many ways.Tasted: 05 June 2004Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $71.95 | 750ml | Speculative - Winspeer International Group |
