Napa Valley, California, United StatesStarmont blends 85 per cent cabernet sauvignon with a 10/3/2 mix of merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot from a selection of Napa Valley vineyards. The 2001 has a licorice root, peppery, spicy nose with black berry, cassis and vanilla layered underneath and a hint of prunes. More peppery, cedar, chocolate cassis jam flavours precede a sweet, heavy, vanilla alcoholic finish.
