Schug Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2002

Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County, California, United StatesSchug Sonoma Coast pinot is fashioned after the silky "Villages" pinot of Burgundy. The wine is aged in primarily large oak casks (similar to the "cuvées" of Burgundian cellars) to emphasize its bright fruit. It has a light ruby colour and a rootsy, black cherry, spicy, strawberry nose with some saddle leather and barnyard streaks. Dry, round, elegant style with nice finesse and suppleness. Bright raspberry, rhubarb, smoky vanilla, celery flavours. A slightly restrained style but very good finesse and weight for current drinking or over the next year or two.Tasted: 21 May 2004Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
