Newton Forrest Syrah Cornerstone 2002

Gimblett Gravels, Hawkes Bay, North Island, New ZealandThe Cornerstone Vineyard is situated in the heart of the Gimblett Gravels viticultural region in Hawkes Bay. Look for a cool peppery, licorice root nose streaked with spicy, resiny vanilla and black cherry. Rich, ripe, smooth and hot it has intense flavours of black cherry, pepper, smoky vanilla, licorice and leather. Big flavours, big style and all in a smooth package -- quite similar in our mind to Washington state syrah. Will need a few years to fully mature in bottle.Tasted: 13 May 2004Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
