Joseph Phelps Le Mistral 2001

Monterey County, Central Coast, California, United StatesLe Mistral is a varying blend of mostly Monterrey fruit and some Napa that includes (but is not limited to), grenache, syrah, mourvèdre, cinsault and carignane. Look for a spicy, peppery, vanilla, black cherry, gamey licorice aromas with a touch of barnyard. The styling is dry, round and elegant with light tannins. Creamy vanilla, smoky, rootsy, licorice flavours with black cherry and spice mark the finish. Very suave and balanced with good intensity. Good now but should improve over the next 2-3 years.
