Meerlust Rubicon 1999

Stellenbosch, Coastal Region, South AfricaLook for a pronounced coffee and roasted pepper nose with rootsy, meaty, vanilla cola notes and saddle leather undertones. Soft, round, dry palate with light, cedar-y tannins. More smoky, resiny, coffee, vanilla, peppery flavours with some blackberry and cassis on the finish. It's a drier, Euro style with a fair bit of oak but it should have wide appeal. The blend is 70/20/10 merlot / cabernet sauvignon / cabernet franc.Tasted: 23 February 2004Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
