Doyenne Dixième Anniversaire 2001

Yakima Valley, Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesWarm spicy, smoky, licorice nose with meaty, white pepper, black cherry jam and saddle leather notes. Ripe, smooth entry with light, dry tannins and earthy, black cherry and smoked vanilla, licorice flavours. Light, dry tannins and a touch of acidity mark the finish. A bit reminiscent of syrah from both Hermitage and Chile. Very suave and balanced but more than a touch hot with alcohol at 15%. Certainly points to promising future for Washington syrah.Tasted: 16 February 2004Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
