Fairview Primo Pinotage 2001

Paarl, Coastal Region, South AfricaThe pinotage is mostly harvested from bush vines, some of which are over 25 years old the rest of fruit comes off younger trellised vineyard at Fairview. Look for a smoky, shoe polish, vanilla, cherry cola, leather nose with a dry, smooth, hot entry and a huge smoky resiny, vanilla oak, cherry cola, leathery tobacco taste. The finish is smoky and crisp but the wine is dominated by oak tannins and it's not the better for it.Tasted: 15 January 2004Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
