Villa Delia Garbato Rosso 1999
Bolgheri, Tuscany, ItalyUmberto Menghi's neighbour took a sip of his new red wine and shouted, "I like it." The literal translation of that is "Garbato" a 70/30 blend of sangiovese and cabernet -- like its nearby neighbour Tignanello. The wine is startlingly fresh on the palate offering red currant fruit and firm, earthy tannins. Quail meat is the answer here with perhaps with a touch of fresh shaved truffle to smooth out the edges. Young angular and edgy it should develop well over the next three to five years.Tasted: 29 December 2003Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $28.95 | 750ml | Specialty |
