La Sauvageonne Puech de Glen 2001

Coteaux du Languedoc, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceThe blend is 90/10 syrah/grenache. Look for peppery, saddle leather, barnyard nose with black raspberry jam and floral, smoky streaks. Very aromatic. It's warm (alcoholic) on entry but rich and concentrated with very grainy, ripe tannins. Massive jammy black raspberry fruit with a cardamom, spicy, peppery flavour and a smooth finish. A bit alcoholic overall but great intensity and balance. Wineries in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Australia should watch out.Tasted: 30 December 2003Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
