Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Émile 1999
Alsace, FranceCuvée Frédéric Émile is Trimbach's flagship wine. The grapes come from the Geisberg and Osterberg Grand Cru vineyards around the village of Ribeauvillé. You won't see "Grand Cru" on the label because the Trimbach family prefer to market the wine without - citing the appellation authorities' leniency in allowing far too many mediocre Grand Crus to enter the marketplace as their reason. Look for a buttery cream, cement, slate-y, lime rind and floral aromas. Very dry, round and elegant but somewhat austere. Very similar flavours of slate, mineral, lime and cream with some buttery quince notes. Sophisticated style but could use more fruit to entice.Tasted: 10 November 2003Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $63.95 | 750ml | Specialty |
