Prunotto Barbera D'Asti Costamiòle 1999

Piedmont, ItalyLoosely translated, Costamiole means house on the ridge or shore. This is 100% barrique-aged for 14 months and undergoes malolactic in barrel also. Nice vanilla, toasty oak, coffee, leather, licorice root aromas with strong streaks of black cherry and plum. Rich, big and concentrated with ripe tannins and good acidity balance. Lots of peppery, smoky, vanilla, licorice, coffee flavours with black plum and black cherry on the finish. Very warm but balanced and long, quite a feat for Barbera, but so is the price.Tasted: 09 October 2003Tasted by: Stuart TobePrices:
