Henschke Lenswood Abbotts Prayer 2000

Adelaide Hills, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide, South Australia, AustraliaAbbotts Prayer is a 74/26 blend of merlot and cabernet sauvignon grown on Stephen and Prue Henschke's Lenswood vineyard in the Adelaide Hills The Henschke's selected Lenswood in 1981 as a new vineyard site and at 550 metres above the sea the slopes get higher rainfall and humidity at the right time of the year and most important cooler growing conditions to better retain natural acidity. The Abbotts Prayer Merlot label links together the history, religion and pioneers of this mountainous region. Look for a clove, spice, sandalwood, cherry fruit nose mixed with smoky, licorice and saddle leather aromas. Dry, round and elegant with softer, slightly dry tannins. Very spicy, peppery, clove, vanilla, earthy plum flavours with mineral, coffee, herbal notes on the finish.Tasted: 28 October 2003Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
