Henschke Hill of Grace Shiraz 1998
Eden Valley, South Australia, AustraliaHill of Grace is a historic century-old vineyard planted around the 1860s by an ancestor, Nicolaus Stanitzki, in rich alluvial soil in a shallow fertile valley just north-west of the winery. The vineyard lies opposite a beautiful old Lutheran Church, built of local field stone, which was named Gnadenberg, meaning 'Hill of Grace'. Expect a huge concentrated nose of vanilla, plum jam, prune, and smoky blueberry aromas mixed with clove and saddle leather. Rich, round and ripe with intense black berry, black cherry jam, vanilla, spicy, peppery clove flavours and a smoky, leather finish. Elegant, long and balanced with very good acidity, should age well for 10-15 years yet drinkable now.Tasted: 28 October 2003Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $324.99 | 750ml | Mark Anthony Wine Stores |
