Estancia Pinot Noir Pinnacles 2001
Monterey County, Central Coast, California, United StatesThe 2001 Pinot Noir is produced primarily from Estancia's Pinnacles vineyard on the western flanks of Monterey County's Gavilan Mountains. The vineyard is home to eleven different clones including the original Mistral selection, first planted at Pinnacles in the early 1960s. It reflects winemaker Ken Shyver's old-world winemaking techniques including whole-berry fermentation, gentle punch downs and pressing and native yeasts fermentations that tend to increase aromatics and minimize aggressive tannins. In short you have a soft black cherry fruit flavoured pinot with those cedary/briary "Monterey" notes in the finish.
