Gisborne - Poverty Bay, North Island, New ZealandThe Tietjen - Briant chardonnay 100 per cent barrel fermented in 50 per cent new American oak. Big toasted butter and popcorn nose. Crisp clean entry but more baked apple and toasted buttery fruit. It's not flat or flabby nor is it sweet but it is oaky so it's a matter of style.
