L'Ecole No 41 Syrah Seven Hills Vineyard 2001

Walla Walla Valley, Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesThis Estate Syrah is a blend of three different blocks of syrah from Seven Hills Vineyard with just a touch of carmenère added for its peppery complexity. L'Ecole No 41 is a partner in the 150-acre vineyard expansion at Seven Hills Vineyard along with Pepper Bridge Winery and Leonetti Cellars. Look for a warm but spicy, mocha, peppery, coffee nose flecked with orange and a whack of black raspberry jam. Cherry, licorice root and garrigue thread underneath this complex red with black raspberry jam, kirsch, creamy vanilla flavours. A bit warm (alcoholic) and acidic on the finish yet it's all balanced by great jammy fruit.Tasted: 10 April 2003Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
