Quinta do Crasto Late Bottled Vintage Port 1997

Cima Corga, Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalFollowing the philosophy of bottling the best grapes of the Quinta in exceptional years the LBV 1997 was produced from hand-picked grapes from Crasto's 40 to 60 year-old vines. The natural yeast fermentation of the traditional foot-trodden must was halted using the estate's own brandy. Look for fresh berry coffee licorice peppery aromas and similar strong flavours with a big, peppery, plum fruit and licorice finish. There's a tiny bit of tannin still to dissipate and it remains a touch fiery in the finish. It will improve through 2005.Tasted: 24 March 2003Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
