Penfolds Koonunga Hill Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot 2001
South Australia, AustraliaThe 2001 edition mixes 84 per cent cabernet and 14 percent merlot. Look for earthy, spicy, peppery, barnyard aromas with some plum jam and licorice. Round but somewhat dry with dusty, earthy, menthol, green bean and garrigue flavours. The fruit is somewhat raw and lean at the moment. Decent balance but could use a bit more primary fruit intensity for the price.Tasted: 08 February 2003Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $14.95 | 750ml |
