Conterno Fantino Barolo Sorì Ginestra 1998
Montforte d'Alba, Cuneo, Piedmont, ItalyAppealing nose of dried rose petals, pruny mocha, tar and vanilla. Its elegant smooth entry suggests new style winemaking and new oak. On the palate there is plenty of dry, tarry vanilla/licorice/prune flavours with more tannin in the finish. Nowhere near ready - seven to ten years will help round them out and settle the tannins. Fine complexity and balance.
