Penfolds Thomas Hyland Chardonnay 2001
Adelaide Hills, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide, South Australia, AustraliaWinemakers Oliver Crawford and Andrew Marks use 100 per cent Adelaide Hills fruit and barrel fermented it in 70 per cent new French oak barrels bearing light to medium toast. Spicy, buttery, lees and vanilla aromas dominate with light peach, toast and citrus rind in the background. Round and dry with good acidity, has nice spicy, vanilla, mineral and citrus rind flavours. Creamy mid-palate with some dryness in the finish. Well-balanced, crisp, leaner style with a strong green apple, citrus and lees finish.
