Lodi, Central Valley, California, United StatesKenwood and zinfandel usually spell comfort. Look for a warm peppery jammy black cherry and spicy high-toned fruit nose. Typically soft and round (Kenwood style) with a peppery resin current and some bramble berry fruit underneath. Should be just fine with grilled entrees and the price doesn't hurt it either.Tasted: 23 December 2002Tasted by: Prices:

Lodi, Central Valley, California, United StatesThe Lodi Old-Vine Zinfandel comes from two vineyards planted in the Lodi appellation (no where near Sonoma) in the early 1900s. The vines are old-style, head-pruned and yield a very low two-and-a-half to three tons per acre. There are copious amounts of blackberry flavoured fruit with a touch of spice and chocolate. It's not as bright as Sonoma County zinfandel but it's softer and ready to drink now.
