Riscal Tempranillo 1999

Castilla-Leon, SpainThe newest label at Marqués de Riscal once again takes the winery down a new path outside the Rioja region. This time the grape is tempranillo, the traditional Riojan red but it comes from selected vineyards within the vast Castilla y León region. Look for a dark red colour with a bright, fresh, jammy fruit nose reminiscent of cherries and raspberries. Smoky toasted notes (it spends five months in American oak) highlight a well-structured red that has ample acidity and weight. A classy barbecue red.Tasted: 01 March 2002Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
