Greg Norman Estates Shiraz 1999

Limestone Coast, South Australia, AustraliaIt's been a while since Australian golfer Greg Norman has won a big golf tournament but he appears to be having little or no problem releasing winning wines. The Greg Norman Estates 1999 Shiraz from the Limestone Coast has the expected deep dark colour and a nose stuffed full of black-fruit aromas flecked with pepper. It's not near as plush on the palate as its more northerly situated cousins at McLaren Vale or Barossa Valley all of which lends it a restrained style that's more French than Australian. Expect a savoury black cherry fruit flavour with undertones of mocha/coffee/chocolate. It finishes firm and dry making it particularly well-suited to food.
