Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils Beaune Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus 1er Cru 1999

Beaune, Côte de Beaune, Côte d'Or, Burgundy, FranceOwned entirely by Bouchard Père & Fils and one of the House's flagship wines. A small (12 acre) and legendary vineyard, which was once the property of Carmelite nuns, who likened the silky elegance of the wine to the velvet trousers of the Baby Jesus. Look for spicy, peppery, herb, ripe cherry and plum fruit with strong barnyard, vanilla toasty waxy aromas. Quite ripe and rich with noticeable tannins, a lot of grip. Toasty oak vanilla, spicy pepper, dark plum and licorice flavours. Moderately elegant with good structure but needs five years to round out the tannins and subdue the oak.Tasted: 01 March 2002Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
