Catena Alta Cabernet Sauvignon Zapata Vineyard 1999

Luján de Cuyo, Northern Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaThe grapes for Catena Alta Cabernet Sauvignon come from a select block of the Zapata Vineyard, Catena's premier Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard situated at more than 940 metres above sea level. The Alta cab spends 18 months in 100% new French oak which is fairly evident in the mouth. Smoky blackberry and cassis fruit dominate the aromas with streaks of toasted oak and vanilla underneath. Ripe fruit and fine concentration is marred slightly by the warm alcoholic finish. Only made in exceptional years.Tasted: 01 March 2002Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
